Original correspondence and papers (1631-1809) of Robert Trelawny and others, including his agent, John Winter (1609-1645), Samuel Pollexfen Trelawny, and Moses Goodyear (d. 1637), relating to the Trelawny Patent in Maine; including the patent, the deed which grants to Robert Trelawny land in the area of Scarborough (signed by Ferdinando Gorges and his brother Edward and the Earl of Warwick, Robert Rich); bounds of the land grant, Trelawny's wills; fragments of the seal of the Council for New England (located in O.S. drawer 8) and of William Allen's seal; also correspondence (1874-1884) of John Wingate Thornton, John Marshall Brown, Leonard Woods, James Phinney Baxter, Rev. C.T. Collins Trelawny and others relating to Trelawny family history, early settlement in New England, and the acquisition of the Trelawny papers and their publication by the Maine Historical Society.
